As of the 1st December of 2012 Ukraine's
population was estimated at 45560,3 thsd. persons. During
January-November 2012 the population decreased by 73,4 thsd.
people, that amounted to 1,8 persons per 1000 population.
At the same time a natural increase of the population was
registered in twelve regions of Ukraine: the city of Kyiv,Zakarpattya,Odesa,
Rivne,Chernivtsi, Volyn,Kyiv, Autonomous Republic of Crimea,
Ivano-Frankivs'k, Kharkiv and Lviv (from 10,6-0,1 persons
per 1000 population).
The population decline by was exclusively
due to natural decrease –125,0 thsd. persons, at the same
time the migration gain – 51,6 thsd. persons was registered.
In comparison with January-November of
2011 the volume of a natural decrease reduced by 24,1 thsd.
persons, or from 3,6 to3,0 persons per 1000 population. A
natural decrease of the population was registered in the 21
Ukraine`s regions, but only in the city of Kyiv, Zakarpattya,Rivne,
Volyn, Chernivtsi and Ivano-Frankivs'k regions a natural increase
of the population (5847, 4089, 3955, 1727, 453 and 432 persons)
was registered.
A significant surplus
of the number of deaths over the number of live birth remains:
100 deaths per 79 live births.

At the same time the birth rate increase of from 11,0 persons
per 1000 population in January-November of 2011 to 11.5 in
January-November of 2012.
There was a significant difference in
the birth rate between Ukraine's regions: from 9,5‰ in Chernihiv
region to 16,1 in Rivne region that reflect the data in the
table below.

The death rate decreased from - 14,6‰.
January-November of 2011 and - 14,5‰. - in January-November
of 2012. The heighest death rate was registered in Chernihiv
region (18,6‰), the lowest - in the city of Kyiv (9,8‰).

In January-November 2012 there were registered
2996 cases of dead births, that is by 73 cases more compared
to the corresponding period of the preceding year. The number
of infant deaths under 1 year of age decreased from 9,1 to
8,6 cases (per 1000 live births) and constituted 4068 persons.
The leading causes of infant
death under 1 year of age were: certain conditions arising
in the perinatal period; congenital malformations, deformations
and chromosomal abnormalities (congenital abnormalities);
external death causes; some infectious and parasitic diseases;
diseases of the nervous system; diseases of the respiratory
system. There remains a significant part of infants (4,3%)
whose death cause was not determined by medical personnel.

Among those who arrived in Ukraine during January-November
of 2012 the immigrants from the CIS countries constituted
52,3 %, from other countries - 47,7 % %. Among those who left
Ukraine 44,4% moved to the CIS countries and 55,6% - to other
countries.
