                      As of the 1st Januaryr of 2013 Ukraine's 
                    population was estimated at 45553,0 thsd. persons. During 
                    2012 the population decreased by 80,6 thsd. people, that amounted 
                    to 1,8 persons per 1000 population. At the same time a natural 
                    increase of the population was registered in 11 regions of 
                    Ukraine (from 10,9-0,8 persons per 1000 population).     The population decline by was exclusively 
                    due to natural decrease –142,4 thsd. persons, at the same 
                    time the migration gain – 61,8 thsd. persons was registered.     In comparison with 2011 the volume of 
                    a natural decrease reduced by 19,6 thsd. persons, or from 
                    3,5 to3,1 persons per 1000 population. A natural decrease 
                    of the population was registered in the 21 Ukraine`s regions, 
                    but only in the city of Kyiv, Zakarpattya,Rivne, Volyn, Ivano-Frankivs'k 
                    and Chernivtsi regions a natural increase of the population 
                    (6047, 4155, 4014, 1636, 300 and 271 persons) was registered. 
                          A significant surplus 
                    of the number of deaths over the number of live birth remains: 
                    100 deaths per 79 live births.

     At the same time the birth rate increase 
                      of from 11,0 persons per 1000 population in 2011 to 11.4 
                      in 2012. 
                         There was a significant difference in 
                    the birth rate between Ukraine's regions: from 9,4‰ in Chernihiv 
                    region to 15,9 in Rivne region that reflect the data in the

                    of dead births, that is by 73 cases more compared to the corresponding 
                    period of the preceding year. The number of infant deaths 
                    under 1 year of age decreased from 9,0 to 8,5 cases (per 1000 
                    live births) and constituted 4371 persons.       The leading causes of infant 
                    death under 1 year of age were: certain conditions arising 
                    in the perinatal period; congenital malformations, deformations 
                    and chromosomal abnormalities (congenital abnormalities); 
                    external death causes; some infectious and parasitic diseases; 
                    diseases of the nervous system; diseases of the respiratory 
                    system. There remains a significant part of infants (4,4%)
